Leon Dai’s (戴立忍) latest movie “No Puedo Vivir Sin Ti” (不能沒有你) dominated 46th Golden Horse Awards. The big winner won for best original screen play, the outstanding Taiwanese film of the year, the best feature film, and the director awards, and an additional trophy voted upon by audiences as for the most outstanding film of the year.
“This movie is nourished on this land, and we hope to give more back to this beautiful country,” Dai told the reporters backstage. Earlier on the red carpet, he expressed his hope that the movie would snatch awards in eight nominated categories. “I’m like a father looking at my child [the movie]; I hope it will be recognized.”
Dai’s low-budget production is based on a real incident in 2003 that happened in an underprivileged family. The story depicts a single father who fears that his daughter will be taken away. He desperately climbs on a pedestrian bridge and attempts to jump after he faces difficulties brought by government bureaucracy.
